APMG plays a pivotal role in the public media landscape by delivering diverse programming and services that cater to a wide audience.

Mission

APMG's mission is to "create the future of public media by amplifying voices to inform, include, and inspire." This commitment is realized through an array of programming designed to reach and impact many listeners nationwide.

American Public Media (APM)

APM is a leading producer and distributor of public radio programming in the United States. It has a portfolio of over 20 national programs, including Marketplace®, The Splendid Table®, and Performance Today®.

These programs are broadcast on nearly 1,000 public radio stations and reach approximately 16 million listeners each week.

In addition to radio, APM has expanded into digital content through APM Studios, offering podcasts on food, culture, business, and investigative journalism. Their lifestyle classical music stream, YourClassical, provides curated classical music experiences tailored to various moments and moods.

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR)

MPR operates a 46-station radio network serving nearly all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states. It offers three distinct program services:

  • News
  • Classical
  • The Current

This variety caters to a diverse audience with varied interests.

Southern California Public Radio (SCPR)

SCPR serves the Southern California region, including areas from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles and Orange Counties, extending to the Coachella Valley. The programming reflects the unique cultural and social landscape of the region.

Recent Developments

In July 2025, APMG announced plans to implement cost-saving measures, including staff reductions of 5% to 8%. This response is due to a $6 million budget deficit caused by state and federal funding cuts impacting public media organizations.
