Wait Staff Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take customer orders and communicate them clearly to the kitchen staff
  • Provide assistance on the menu and suggest orders to customers
  • Prepare tables for new customers, ensuring cleanliness and proper setup
  • Deliver orders accurately and promptly
  • Ensure customers enjoy their meals and make accommodations as needed
  • Process payments accurately, including sales taxes and itemizing orders
  • Assist with other server and team member responsibilities as necessary
  • Handle customer queries and complaints in a friendly and hospitable manner
  • Take customer feedback and communicate it to management when necessary
  • Check the quality of dishes before serving
  • Monitor and perform cleaning services regularly

Wait Staff Experience Requirements & Skills

  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role preferred
  • Some experience managing money, processing accurate monetary transactions and using a point-of-sale system
  • Capability to handle multiple duties simultaneously, including order serving and customer assistance
  • Physically fit, capable of carrying plates and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to maintain focus and perform duties effectively under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills

Wait Staff Education & Qualifications

  • No formal education is required but a high school diploma is encouraged
