Job Description

Walmart is a leading multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores. Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, Walmart has grown to become one of the largest private employers worldwide. The company is known for offering a wide range of products including groceries, electronics, apparel, and home goods at competitive prices. Walmart’s mission is to help people save money and live better by providing access to quality products and services. They are committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive work environment where innovation, teamwork, and excellence are highly valued.

Currently, Walmart is expanding its workforce and is seeking a General Facilities Maintenance Technician to join both the local and regional teams. This role is based at Walmart’s local retail stores and plays a critical part in upholding the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the facilities. The General Facilities Maintenance Technician will work under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager and be responsible for adhering to established maintenance schedules and guidelines. This includes performing routine maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and repair tasks related to the store’s infrastructure, equipment, and fixtures.

Key responsibilities include maintaining and repairing Walmart facilities and equipment through various skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and material handling equipment. The role requires using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and efficiently. The technician will utilize Walmart’s work order management system to receive and document repair activities, respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls, and conduct facility inspections and equipment testing to diagnose problems.

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess relevant vocational or technical certifications and practical experience in trades such as plumbing, electrical, or material handling equipment. Additionally, physical capabilities are essential including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, work comfortably at heights, move up and down ladders frequently, and operate in various temperature conditions. A valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record is also required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record report.

Walmart is dedicated to investing in its employees through comprehensive benefits that foster personal and professional growth. Full-time employees have access to health benefits including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance. Paid time off accrues to support work-life balance along with parental leave, bereavement, military leave, and other types. Walmart offers financial benefits such as a 401k with company match, bonus incentives, associate stock purchase plans, and a Walmart discount. They also provide educational programs like Live Better University, enabling associates to complete high school, pursue bachelor’s degrees, or earn certificates with Walmart covering tuition and fees.

This is an exciting opportunity for maintenance technicians seeking to join a dynamic team within a company that values innovation, safety, and excellence.
