Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • valid California Class A or B Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsements
  • valid California Special Driver Certificate for school bus drivers
  • valid Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
  • good DMV driving record
  • ability to maintain insurability under district insurance
  • subject to federal drug and alcohol testing
  • ability to operate wheelchair lift
  • ability to perform physical demands of the job
  • availability to respond to emergency situations

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • valid California Class A or B Commercial Driver License with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsements
  • valid California Special Driver Certificate for school bus drivers
  • valid Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • good DMV driving record
  • ability to maintain insurability under the district's vehicle insurance policy
  • effective communication skills
  • knowledge of California Vehicle Code and local traffic ordinances

Job Duties

  • Drive a school bus on designated routes
  • pick up and discharge students according to time schedules
  • observe legal and defensive driving practices
  • maintain order and discipline among passengers
  • perform daily pre-trip safety inspections
  • assist in general cleaning of school buses
  • prepare reports related to student behavior and incidents
