Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • sufficient training and experience to demonstrate related knowledge and abilities
  • valid California Class A or B Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsements
  • valid California Special Driver Certificate issued by DMV for school bus drivers
  • valid Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • valid First Aid and CPR Certificate from authorized agency
  • Department of Justice fingerprint clearance through California Highway Patrol
  • good DMV driving record maintaining insurability
  • compliance with federal drug and alcohol testing requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • valid California Class A or B Commercial Driver License with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsements
  • valid California Special Driver Certificate for school bus drivers
  • valid Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • valid First Aid and CPR certificates
  • understanding of California Motor Vehicle Code and student transportation laws
  • ability to perform daily safety inspections
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to maintain discipline and ensure safety

Job Duties

  • Drive a school bus on designated routes
  • pick up and discharge students according to schedules
  • observe legal and defensive driving practices
  • maintain order and discipline among passengers
  • perform daily safety inspections and assist in cleaning buses
  • transport students and designated adults on routes and activity trips
  • communicate with staff, parents, and transportation personnel regarding safety and student behavior
