Job Requirements

  • Two years of recreation-related experience including six months of experience in a directly related field
  • One year with Pima County in a Recreation Coordinator I or related position
  • Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted
  • Valid driver license is required at time of application
  • Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 2 months of hire date
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a National Fitness Certification
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
  • Ability to operate county vehicles per DOT Motor Vehicle Record standards

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of recreation-related experience including six months of experience in a directly related field
  • One year with Pima County in a Recreation Coordinator I or related position
  • Minimum of two years experience working with a variety of populations in a recreational, educational, or child care setting
  • Minimum of two years experience supervising staff
  • Minimum one year experience with Microsoft Office Suite such as Outlook, Excel, Word and/or recreation registration software programs
  • Minimum three months experience providing fitness, nutrition or wellness programming, or certification from a national fitness association

Job Duties

  • Manages, develops, supervises, plans, directs, coordinates and schedules all activities at a small recreation facility including programs and events
  • Supervises, schedules, trains and evaluates recreation staff, volunteers and youth interns
  • Handles public inquiries, provides information to the public, resolves customer and participant issues, and implements corrective actions or procedures
  • Utilizes computer skills for registration systems, creating reports, promotional materials, maintaining records and communication
  • Manages the acquisition, storage, inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment to support recreation programs and activities
  • Maintains Pima County property, equipment, electronics and various items in a recreation facility
  • Communicates effectively in a timely manner, both orally and in writing
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a National Fitness Certification
  • Collects money, prepares and makes bank deposits or processes payments utilizing registration software
