Job Requirements

  • Any combination of education equivalent to a high school diploma
  • some experience in physical education, recreation, athletics, customer service or related field
  • ability to work physically in a gym or recreational facility
  • ability to run, jump, bend, stoop, reach
  • ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs on occasion
  • valid appropriate driver’s license with acceptable driving history
  • drug screening and criminal background check
  • ability to perform duties under environmental conditions both inside and outside
  • ability to perform light custodial tasks
  • ability to maintain organized work area
  • commitment to inclusive, equitable and welcoming work environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in physical education, recreation, athletics, customer service or related fields
  • skills in teaching and coordinating recreation activities and games
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • ability to maintain order in a public facility
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers and the general public

Job Duties

  • Greets the public and answers the phone
  • issues games and equipment
  • fills out and files membership cards
  • collects fees and records payment information
  • collects and organizes program participation forms and associated paperwork
  • supervises participants utilizing a recreation center
  • maintains discipline and mediates disputes
  • keeps the work station organized and clean
  • keeps athletic equipment and games organized and in good shape
  • assists staff in leading games, sports and special activities
  • performs light custodial chores as directed
