Job Requirements
- Any combination of education equivalent to a high school diploma
- some experience in physical education, recreation, athletics, customer service or related field
- ability to work physically in a gym or recreational facility
- ability to run, jump, bend, stoop, reach
- ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs on occasion
- valid appropriate driver’s license with acceptable driving history
- drug screening and criminal background check
- ability to perform duties under environmental conditions both inside and outside
- ability to perform light custodial tasks
- ability to maintain organized work area
- commitment to inclusive, equitable and welcoming work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in physical education, recreation, athletics, customer service or related fields
- skills in teaching and coordinating recreation activities and games
- ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- ability to maintain order in a public facility
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers and the general public
Job Duties
- Greets the public and answers the phone
- issues games and equipment
- fills out and files membership cards
- collects fees and records payment information
- collects and organizes program participation forms and associated paperwork
- supervises participants utilizing a recreation center
- maintains discipline and mediates disputes
- keeps the work station organized and clean
- keeps athletic equipment and games organized and in good shape
- assists staff in leading games, sports and special activities
- performs light custodial chores as directed
