Job Requirements
- meet personal schedule requirements punctually
- provide a clean, well-manicured appearance reflecting the restaurant's image
- safely transport containers weighing up to 30 pounds
- stand or walk for entire shifts
- safely transport items on slick, uneven surfaces and stairs
- move safely within all restaurant areas
- work a variable schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- perform duties in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures
Job Qualifications
- minimum of 1-year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
- ability to follow supervisor instructions
- excellent organizational skills
- ability to work as an active team player
- knowledge of pastry preparation and baking techniques
- ability to maintain high food quality standards
- understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation procedures
- strong communication skills
Job Duties
- perform daily walk through inventory to prioritize product utilization
- identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager
- meet daily with executive chef to coordinate and ensure production standards
- assist in development and maintenance of pastry recipe books including ingredients, product specifications, and portion sizes
- assist in development of dessert menus and items
- produce pastries for the restaurant and special functions
- prepare ingredients for pastry recipes
- prepare pastry items according to prescribed recipes
- maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation
- coordinate proper food storage according to procedures
- work dessert station on line when necessary
- safely and efficiently use kitchen equipment and utensils
- operate functions of position independently if necessary
- maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
- communicate problems to management immediately
