Job Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date
  • Neonatal Resuscitation certification from American Academy of Pediatrics obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Program certification obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Driver's License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
  • Emergency Medical Tech specializing in ER Vehicle Operation credential from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Paramedic credential from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • One or more of the following: Critical Care Paramedic credential from the International Board of Specialty Certification obtained within 24 months of hire date or job transfer date, or Flight Paramedic certification within 24 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree
  • Minimum three years of experience in Emergency Medical Services
  • Preferred five years of experience in Emergency Medical Services

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED with two years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Emergency Medical Services
  • Preferred five years of experience in Emergency Medical Services
  • Certification in Advanced Life Support within six months of hire date
  • BLS Provider certification within one month of hire date
  • Neonatal Resuscitation certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics within 12 months of hire date
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Program certification within 12 months of hire date
  • Valid driver’s license prior to hire date
  • Emergency Medical Tech specializing in ER Vehicle Operation credential from Indiana Department of Homeland Security within 12 months
  • Paramedic credential from Indiana Department of Homeland Security prior to hire date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within six months of hire date
  • Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support within 12 months of hire date
  • One of the following: Critical Care Paramedic certification from the International Board of Specialty Certification within 24 months of hire date, or Flight Paramedic certification (FP-C) within 24 months of hire date

Job Duties

  • Provide advanced life support for critically ill or injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team
  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols
  • monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment as appropriate
  • Contact receiving medical personnel, report observations and follow directives
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public
  • May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies
