Job Requirements
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation from American Academy of Pediatrics obtained within 12 months of hire
- Certification in The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program obtained within 12 months of hire
- Driver's License obtained prior to hire
- Emergency Medical Tech specializing in ER Vehicle Operation credential obtained within 12 months of hire
- Paramedic credential from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire
- Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support obtained within 12 months of hire
- Paramedic specializing in Critical Care credential from International Board of Specialty Certification obtained within 24 months of hire or Certified Flight Paramedic obtained within 24 months of hire
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience or associate's degree or technical degree
- Three years of experience in emergency medical services minimum
- Preferred five years of experience in emergency medical services
- Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 6 months of hire
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation certification from American Academy of Pediatrics obtained within 12 months of hire
- The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program certification obtained within 12 months of hire
- Valid driver's license obtained prior to hire
- ER Vehicle Operation certification from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained within 12 months of hire
- Paramedic credential from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 6 months of hire
- Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support obtained within 12 months of hire
- One or more advanced paramedic certifications such as Critical Care or Flight Paramedic specialized credential obtained within 24 months of hire
Job Duties
- Provide advanced life support for critically ill or injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team
- Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport in collaboration with transport physician and/or registered nurse
- Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols
- monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment as appropriate
- Contact receiving medical personnel, report observations and follow directives
- Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and the public
- Drive ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies as required
