Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • possession of a valid City Operator's Permit within six months from date of hire
  • possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License class B with Passenger endorsement within two weeks from completion of City training
  • must be able to maintain CDL once obtained
  • pass U.S. Department of Transportation physical exam and required drug testing
  • successfully complete Motorcoach Operator training
  • one year of experience in customer service dealing with the general public

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience in customer service dealing with the general public
  • preferred experience in business-related driving such as delivery, sales or transportation of passengers
  • knowledge of air brakes
  • knowledge of city streets and roads
  • understanding of operational characteristics of assigned vehicles
  • understanding of principles and practices of customer service
  • knowledge of record-keeping procedures
  • knowledge of standard safety practices and potential hazards related to vehicle operation

Job Duties

  • Operate a transit bus over assigned route on a time schedule
  • pick up and transport passengers and discharge them at destination safely and courteously
  • properly monitor and collect fares
  • demonstrate appropriate public relations skills in public interactions
  • complete required reports
  • respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
  • maintain required certifications and follow safety protocols
