Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or culinary certification preferred
  • 1-3 years as a chef or sous chef
  • 7 years cooking experience
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • strong leadership skills
  • ability to train others
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to stand and lift over 25 pounds
  • willingness to work over 55 hours per week on rotating schedule
  • ability to travel up to 25 percent
  • must complete company required training including ServSafe
  • compliance with all company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or Culinary Arts certification preferred
  • minimum 1-3 years experience as a chef or sous chef required
  • minimum 7 years cooking experience required
  • supervisory experience in high-volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment preferred
  • in-flight catering or high-volume food service experience preferred
  • ability to cook meals to detailed specifications
  • strong leadership skills
  • experience with labor relations a plus
  • ability to train others
  • effective communication skills
  • excellent time management
  • organizational and analytical skills
  • experience with menu design a plus
  • basic computer skills with Microsoft Office preferred
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensure food specifications and labor objectives meet company and customer requirements
  • supervise department for quality and quantity adherence
  • manage attendance and scheduling, assigning employees to sections
  • order raw materials and produce additional meals as needed
  • prepare daily production sheets and assign tasks
  • oversee training and ongoing employee education on food preparation procedures
  • maintain safety procedures and cleanliness to ensure quality
  • manage daily kitchen production for consistency
  • enforce compliance with wage and hour policies
  • train and monitor employees for productivity optimization
  • schedule manpower and manage employee retention
  • provide coaching, counseling, and corrective actions in line with union agreements
  • review employee cost centers and job titles
  • ensure pay rates comply with wage scales and seniority
  • complete required company training including ServSafe
  • comply with all company policies and procedures
