Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • No prior experience or training required on the job training provided
  • Six months of environmental services experience in a health care facility preferred
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery safely
  • Ability to follow infection control procedures
  • Capability to move furniture and heavy objects using proper techniques
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Ability to attend all required training and meetings
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting and standing for prolonged periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to complete work assignments independently
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper use of cleaning equipment
  • Understanding of infection control procedures including hand-washing techniques and universal precautions
  • Good communication skills to interact with charge nurse and team members
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally
  • Ability to adhere to safety and sanitation standards
  • Awareness of confidentiality and privacy regulations such as HIPAA
  • Demonstrated compassion and flexibility in resident relations

Job Duties

  • Clean residents rooms including dusting furniture woodwork equipment and dust mop floors
  • Clean residents work areas throughout the facility including physical therapy and resident dining areas
  • Make beds and change linen
  • Perform resident discharge cleaning including beds bedside stands drawers closets and other fixtures
  • Wet mop rooms halls stairways and public areas
  • Vacuum offices hallways and public areas
  • Clean fixtures tops of windows door frames and high areas using a ladder
  • Transport residents in wheelchairs and geri chairs within the facility
  • Attend all inservices and meetings as required
  • Load and unload linen from washer and dryer and sort linen in clean area
  • Pick up and sort soiled linen from all units
  • Deliver linen to user departments according to schedules
  • Count and stack linens for distribution
  • Deliver personal clothes to residents
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
