Job Requirements
- Completion of ten years formal schooling
- ability to use chemicals safely and appropriately
- ability to perform general custodial work
- ability to assist with groundskeeping and limited maintenance
- ability to interact professionally and courteously with students and staff
- ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, scrubbers, and buffers
- ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- Completion of ten years formal schooling
- ability to learn the materials, methods, and practices used in custodial work
- ability to learn the operation and care of vacuums, scrubbers, buffers, and other custodial equipment
- ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment
- ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions
- ability to operate and make simple adjustments to housekeeping and grounds equipment
Job Duties
- Perform general custodial work according to institutional sanitation standards
- assist with some groundskeeping and limited maintenance when needed
- interact frequently with students and assist them with directions and general inquiries
- clean and wax floors using equipment such as vacuums, scrubbers and buffers
- use chemicals safely and appropriately according to prescribed directions
- clean trash and waste containers and ensure recyclable materials are separated from regular trash
- clean kitchen areas, bathrooms, and educational laboratories as assigned and keep areas disinfected
- dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with waste disposal procedures
- hang drapes, clean windows, clean desks and chairs in classrooms
- arrange furniture for special meetings and social functions
- replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles as needed
- operate motor vehicles, mowers, snow removal equipment, etc.
- perform other related duties as required
