Job Description

Daytona International Speedway is a premier motorsports facility renowned worldwide for hosting some of the most iconic racing events. Located within a sprawling 500-acre complex, the Speedway serves as the "World Center of Racing," a title earned due to its diverse and intense roster of events spanning throughout the year. The facility is famed for the NASCAR Cup Series kickoff event, the DAYTONA 500, often dubbed "The Great American Race," drawing millions of fans and motorsports enthusiasts. Beyond this, the Speedway features numerous high-profile events such as the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, DAYTONA Supercross, DAYTONA 200 motorcycle classic, and the Coke Zero Sugar 400, alongside a vibrant calendar filled with concerts, car shows, track tours, and specialized training activities. Recognized for its excellence, the Speedway was the recipient of the SportsBusiness Journal's Sports Facility of the Year award in 2016, underscoring its status as a top-tier venue in the sports and events industry.

This job opportunity is a seasonal role, primarily focused on the operational and logistical support of large-scale events hosted at Daytona International Speedway, specifically from January through May 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with the Event Logistics Manager to ensure efficient setup, execution, and service during major spectator events and track rentals. This position is pivotal in coordinating between multiple departments within the organization—including DIS Client & Event Experience, NASCAR Sales, Partnership Services, and DIS Track Operations—with the goal of delivering a seamless event experience for both staff and attendees.

Key responsibilities encompass supporting event operations during high-profile events such as IMSA Testing and Rolex 24 in January, NASCAR Speedweeks events in February, March Bike Week, as well as fan-favorite events like Jeep Beach and Welcome to Rockville. The role demands active involvement in vendor management, including coordination with tent and fence suppliers, ATM service providers, and other essential vendors contributing to the event environment. Maintaining and organizing Midway Display layouts, handling event signage, distributing credentials and parking passes are critical logistic tasks that fall under this position's purview.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity for college students or recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in event management within the motorsports industry—a unique intersection of sports, entertainment, and large-scale event coordination. Candidates will be expected to exhibit strong leadership qualities, excellent managerial judgment, and the ability to multitask effectively under dynamic conditions. Personal qualities such as a professional demeanor, cleanliness, dependability, and teamwork orientation are equally important.

The role requires dependable transportation and flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. While familiarity with office systems, including computer programs and AUTOCAD, is advantageous, the primary emphasis is on interpersonal communication, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to event execution. At Daytona International Speedway, the culture embraces diversity, inclusiveness, and a commitment to employee growth, offering competitive salaries, comprehensive wellness-focused benefits, and avenues for professional development. This is a distinctive chance to join a high-energy, close-knit team at NASCAR, where passion for motorsports translates into meaningful career experiences and progression opportunities.
