Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions
- Must have own means of transportation
- Valid driver’s license required
- Successfully pass a criminal history and fingerprint background check prior to employment
- Ability to perform manual labor outdoors under adverse weather conditions and near moving traffic
- Ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis
- Must wear prescribed clothing and personal protective safety equipment
Job Qualifications
- Successfully completed college-level traffic or transportation engineering courses or civil technology at a technical college desirable
- Previous paid experience in traffic operations or similar role desirable
- Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time
- Ability to meet and deal with the public in a friendly, professional manner
- Valid driver’s license required
Job Duties
- Collects and documents traffic data using road counters, digital count boards, handheld radar units and manual observations
- Ensures proper data entry and storage
- Prepares traffic safety and operations reports including sight distance observations, crash history diagrams, speed studies, signal operations studies and traffic volume reports
- Assists other staff with inspection and documentation of temporary work zone traffic control
- Assists other staff with minor sign maintenance and inspection of roadway striping operations
- Assists Traffic Signal Technician on minor traffic signal maintenance operations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
