  • minimum of 18 years of age
  • no prior experience required
  • criminal background check
  • ability to pass pre-hire physical examination involving lifting up to 100 pounds

  • ability to learn to operate various cleaning equipment
  • ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changes

  • operating knowledge of computers and technology
  • operating knowledge of custodial equipment within three months

Job Qualifications

  • experience in general cleaning preferred
  • experience in chemical handling preferred
  • customer service experience preferred
  • basic problem-solving skills
  • ability to operate various cleaning equipment
  • ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changes
  • ability to follow Board of Education policies and procedures
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • commitment to safety practices
  • operating knowledge of personal computers and information technology systems within one month of hire
  • operating knowledge of custodial equipment within three months of hire

Job Duties

  • Perform cleaning duties including removing trash and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other facilities
  • secure interior doors and turn out lights
  • assist with building operation for events including set up, clean up, and locking/unlocking areas
  • assist staff, public, students, teachers, and community groups during assigned shifts
  • perform building and site safety and operational checks including inspecting for hazards, graffiti, and vandalism
  • respond to fire and burglar alarms and report findings
  • communicate with supervisor about issues and needs verbally or through logs
  • remove snow, ice, and gravel and clean outside windows, doors, and lighting
  • perform seasonal, summer, and project cleaning as assigned
  • perform other duties as assigned
