Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 6 months related hospitality industry experience and/or training
- 3-5+ years experience in a sales role
- proficiency in catering sales generation and contract negotiation
- ability to work independently
- proficiency in Microsoft Office
- working knowledge of POS systems
- excellent business etiquette
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- detail-oriented
- availability to work varied schedules including weekends and evenings
- willingness to travel outside sales calls and events
- decision-making ability
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- minimum 6 months related hospitality industry experience and/or training
- 3-5+ years in a sales role with verifiable sales success
- demonstrated proficiency and successful experience in catering sales generation, contract negotiation and pricing, event scheduling, training, catering, banquets and menu development
- ability to work independently with little supervision
- proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and email
- working knowledge of point of sale (POS) systems
- strong business etiquette and professional verbal and written communication skills
- ability to represent the company positively and professionally
- ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- detail-oriented and accurate work production
- ability to work varied schedules including weekends and evenings
- ability to travel for outside sales calls and events
- proven ability to make solid and independent decisions
Job Duties
- Build relationships by networking and prospecting with key decision makers
- coordinate and deliver effective sales presentations
- independently source, identify, and pursue outside networking opportunities through professional industry resources and community events
- negotiate, author, and submit finalized contracts and banquet event orders (BEOs) to clients and internal staff
- address or coordinate all catering requirements and requests in a timely and helpful manner
- maintain accurate records for all catering sales activities
- communicate daily with food & beverage manager, culinary staff, catering staff, and operations staff about the needs of guests and their expectations
- maintain an extensive client database for follow-up sales calls and contacts
- assist with follow-up of guests' experience at the venue to ensure issues are addressed
- assist in planning and coordination of catered events
- serve as primary group and convention contact once contracts are signed
- approve any inventory or other changes
- respond to questions or concerns promptly
- assist with oversight of accounts receivable for assigned events
