Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
  • handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures
  • adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and control loss
  • follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs
  • create a welcoming environment by answering product questions
  • comply with local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • work cooperatively in a fast-paced and stressful environment
  • manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
  • act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
