Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • computer/typing experience necessary
  • previous customer service experience preferred
  • must be 18 years of age or older
  • must have a reliable telephone and transportation
  • treat all information as confidential
  • possess tact to deal with all levels of customers, client representatives and employees
  • must be able to sit, stand, lift, and/or bend throughout shift
  • must be able to lift, carry, and/or hold at least 70 lbs
  • physical exam may be required
  • must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • must pass a pre-employment background check
  • able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
  • must meet necessary requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge
  • able to verbally direct in English
  • must be a citizen or possess INS authorization

Job Duties

  • Act as handling agent for airlines
  • inform all authorized parties concerning movements of airline's aircraft and cargo
  • compile, dispatch and receive all messages pertaining to the cargo handling operation
  • prepare/process cargo documents, air bills, and air waybills
  • answer airline's telephone and take appropriate action when necessary
  • obtain customer's clearance of inbound cargo and prepare/process necessary documents for international shipments
  • prepare transfer manifest(s) for all transfer cargo
  • conduct physical inspections and screening of packages/cargo per client protocols
  • prepare the Unit Load Device Receipt for all transfers and distribute copies accordingly
  • service customers at counter and ensure accurate shipping documents
  • notify customers of shipment arrivals and inform shippers of freight costs
  • complete airway bills and update computer records
  • ensure familiarity with FAA/airline/company regulations
  • keep supervisor informed of needs and problems
  • maintain cleanliness of immediate work area
  • project a positive image and respond courteously to inquiries
  • attend meetings and in-services as required
  • utilize appropriate communication channels and maintain records
  • wear proper uniform and identification badges
  • adhere to company policies and participate in company objectives
  • use company and client equipment and resources efficiently
  • perform other duties as requested
