Job Description

The Timber Rattlers are a professional minor league baseball team known for their dynamic game day experiences and community engagement. They operate within a vibrant hospitality sector focused on providing top-tier entertainment and event management services. The Banquet & Non-Game Day Event Internship is a unique opportunity to join a skilled team dedicated to orchestrating seamless events that elevate the fan experience beyond the baseball diamond. This internship is designed for individuals interested in event planning, hospitality management, and catering, offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment. The internship requires availability for 35-45 hours per week, including weekends, early mornings, and late evenings, reflecting the varied nature of event scheduling in the sports and entertainment industry. Compensation is provided as a monthly salary, which is determined based on the candidate's experience, making this a valuable paid internship opportunity.

The role of the Event Intern is multifaceted, focusing on the essential functions necessary to support the banquet and event team throughout the fall and spring semesters. Candidates will engage in a wide array of responsibilities, from assisting with event setup and breakdown to training and supervising staff. The internship emphasizes strong communication skills and the ability to enforce policies and procedures effectively, ensuring that all events run smoothly and meet the highest standards of customer service. Event interns will also gain valuable exposure to food and liquor licensing compliance, which is critical for safety and regulatory adherence in hospitality settings. A key component of the role includes using catering software to create work orders, invoices, and event layouts, promoting precision and professionalism in event execution.

The Timber Rattlers Banquet & Event Team values innovation and creativity, offering interns the chance to contribute to marketing efforts and help with miscellaneous office tasks that enhance overall event operations. While experience with design tools such as Canva is not mandatory, a willingness to learn such skills is encouraged, adding a creative dimension to the internship. This position demands a flexible and dedicated individual who can handle a sometimes challenging schedule involving late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. It offers significant professional development opportunities in hospitality event management within a sports entertainment setting. The Timber Rattlers are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. This internship not only provides practical experience but also fosters a collaborative environment where every intern’s contribution is valued.
