Job Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
- pushing and pulling approximately 100 lb. of product at a time on rack
- lift objects of various dimensions chest high up to 50 lbs
- conduct visual inspections and follow production guides, recipes and product labels
- operate kitchen utensils and equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
- maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
- reach overhead to place product on racks
- stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
- bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel and perform repetitive movement frequently
- handle bakery ingredients
- perform basic math calculations and compute weights and measures
- perform duties with mental alertness involving potential hazards
- respond to audible timers on baking equipment
- work around equipment and products emitting heat approximately 465 degrees
- follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
- use cleaning chemicals and handle food products
- perform duties with efficiency and accuracy
- manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- prioritize and multi-task
- wear hats, hairnets, gloves and other personal protective equipment as required
- check labels and packaging of all manufactured products
- communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
- work in team-oriented, collaborative environment
- demonstrate knowledge of product content, perishability, safety, sanitation procedures and government regulations
- must be 18 years of age or older
- food handlers certification per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior bakery or food production experience advantageous
- knowledge of baking procedures and equipment operation
- ability to follow recipes and safety sanitation guidelines
- proficiency using bakery machinery and labeling equipment
- strong customer service and communication skills
- capability to perform manual tasks involving lifting and physical activity
- attention to detail with a focus on quality control
- ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment
- food handler certification as required by state laws
- willingness to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
- produce bakery products for retail stores
- operate and clean equipment and work area
- package all fresh products following packaging and handling procedures
- ensure quality of goods by following code
- mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
- set-up and ice cakes including personalized decorations
- package cakes into boxes
- label bakery items using DiGi machine and other labeling equipment
- display products on shelves using FIFO for rotation
- take orders by phone and in person, including special cake orders
- face merchandise
- engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- display goods following packaging, handling, and signage guidelines
- assist customers with inquiries regarding pricing, availability and special orders
- ensure quality of goods through code dating and legal compliance
- maintain inventory and fill out production sheets as scheduled
- produce breads, rolls and croissants including mixing recipes and operating ovens and proof boxes
- clean work area using appropriate tools
- open and close bakery according to company procedures
- perform other duties as assigned or needed
