Job Requirements
- Completion of certificate program in HVAC from an accredited college or university
- Three years of responsible experience in operation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems
- Possession of a valid State of California driver's license
- Possession of Universal Certification for Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Refrigerants from the EPA
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks associated with HVAC maintenance
- Commitment to safety protocols and preventive maintenance
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Job Qualifications
- Completion of certificate program in HVAC from an accredited college or university
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience in operation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems
- Possession of a valid State of California driver's license
- Possession of a Universal Certification for Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Refrigerants from the EPA
- Knowledge of safety codes and refrigerant management programs
- Ability to establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs
- Proficiency in operating and repairing HVAC equipment
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Computer literacy with business applications and maintenance management systems
Job Duties
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance of heating, cooling, air-conditioning and ventilating equipment and controls
- Repair packaged A/C units, furnaces, combination units, heating units, and ventilating fans
- Make repairs and adjustments to compressors, pumps, ventilating fans, burners, boilers, and air conditioning control systems
- Check v-belts, lubricate fan bearings, replace air filters, and purified media on air handlers
- Take and record temperatures and pressures throughout systems, purge air, check condenser coils, and measure solution and refrigerant
- Monitor and adjust HVAC systems using building automation systems and test equipment
- Respond to emergency repair service calls
- Provide lead direction to assigned helpers if necessary
- Maintain and program time clocks, thermostats, and variable frequency drives
- Inspect, operate, and repair low pressure boiler systems and related equipment
- Maintain and repair water softeners
- Maintain operating logs and records
- Perform routine testing and maintenance of water treatment systems
- Replace sub-assembly units in heating, ventilating, and cooling systems
- Clean and check operational safety controls on boilers and burners
- Clean condenser coils and check for refrigerant leaks
- Disassemble and overhaul large refrigeration compressors and chillers
- Maintain cooling towers and filtration systems
- Perform other related duties as assigned
